At last, a user-relevant, easy-to-use composting can. Our goal is to improve the experience of composting and garbage disposal. Your trash is a powerful means to positively impact the earth. A staggering 28% of the content in our landfills is food waste. Collecting and separating this food waste in our homes is critical in landfill reduction. UCAN gives you an easy way to do just that. BRAND AND PRODUCT POSITIONING

WE TAILOR OUR APPROACH TO EACH CLIENT, HERE IS WHAT WE HAVE DONE FOR THE UCAN BRAND: USER OBSERVATIONS. We conducted a series of first-hand User observations with a wide range of people to observe how they handle their food waste and trash. We also captured a range of interactions on video.  // MARKET AND COMPETITIVE RESEARCH + TRENDS ANALYSIS. Simultaneously, we looked in-depth at current food waste/food separation solutions – and those that might represent competition for our product – in terms of both PD and branding.  We sought out trends in PD and branding.  // SYNTHESIS. We visualized and synthesized our findings.  // RESULTS: We developed and presented product POV, including product potential and user interaction scenarios.

PRODUCT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

IDEATION + ITERATION. Based on the NONOBJECT POINT OF VIEW developed during the research and positioning phases, we designed a series of viable options and visualized these in sketch and rendering formats.  // REFINEMENT. Working with the client, we narrowed down our choice to the best solution in terms of aesthetics and mechanical design, including a unique bag-attachment mechanism that is currently patent-pending.  Our solution was fully tested and optimized for manufacturing and COGS management. Branding was finalized.  //

RESULTS: We developed detailed renderings and 3-D CAD files, then we created works-like, looks-like prototypes as a run-up to production, which we will also oversee to ensure design integrity and the highest quality.
